Week 1 of Home Working

Image
We are all getting used to this new way of working. It will be a steep learning curve for all of us but think of the IT skills we are developing along the way!  The google hangouts have been popular  and most children are engaging with their learning. Here are the first two mini blogs. These are by Sophie who has been working hard with her beautiful dog, Luna, by her side!  The second blog is by Ronan who described a cooking activity with Mum and Dad. His pizza sounds delicious! Check back later in the week for more updates. Sophie and Luna multi-tasking! During the week of being off school has been an adventure. It has been quite a sad month for all of us but we have to work through it together. While i'm not working i've been watching disney on the new disney plus app. It has been great! I have also been on hangouts with my friends who I miss seeing at school. Sophie While I am at home to occupy myself I have been helping my  mum and dad to prep...

Viking Warriors!

Image
Ewan in full Viking costume! Room 1 pupils have been busy finding out about how Vikings lived as part of our How To Train Your Dragon topic.  Each child carried out research on Viking Shields then we grouped all our information together on a mind map. Next they designed their own shield and decided on patterns using colours that would have been available in Viking times. After making their shield based on the earlier design, the children wrote an information text that included relevant parts of their research. Here are some of the pictures of their shields and helmets [ made from paper maiche]. Mackenzie's shield is rimmed with leather - just like a  Viking! Callum made a great effort with his research Dana's Viking patterns  Reece's design showed that shields were made from wood  Please check back over the weekend to see more pictures of the children's shields and some wonderful dragon artwork.

WELCOME!

Hello everyone ... As another way of keeping in touch, Room 1 will have it's own blog. This will be updated by myself and will have news about the online work we will be doing as well as items about what the children are up to at home. I hope that the children will use this as an opportunity to have their own writing and photos published too.  I will add to the blog weekly or more often [ as and when we have updates to share]. In the meantime here is a picture of the pupils at the end of a 'new building' visit last week. Please check back at the end of the week for more info.
